Nagpur: In a major success, Nagpur police have arrested the three men involved in a disturbing incident where they chased a woman from a hotel in Sadar all the way to her residence late on April 22 night. The arrest was made possible through a combination of technical and human surveillance, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone II, Rahul Madne, and Sadar Police Inspector Manish Thakre.

Nagpur police had made public CCTV footage showing one of the men entering the lobby of the woman’s house and on the basis of some inputs, cops zeroed in on the three accused men.

The accused have been identified as Manoj Givatram Chhabra (53), resident of Shankar Nagar, Rajeshkumar Amarlal Talreja (43), resident of Navjivan Colony, Amravati Road and Suraj Narayan Kuradkar (25), resident of Ganpati Nagar, Amravati Road.

It is pertinent to recall that on the evening of April 22, a group of women went to Hotel Ashoka in Sadar, Nagpur for dinner. Three men, seated at another table, began staring at the women in an indecent manner throughout their meal.

After leaving the hotel, the women proceeded to the parking area where they were followed by the three men. One of the women, upon entering her car to head home, was pursued by the accused who also got into an XUV 700 SUV, lacking a registration number.

The chase extended for approximately four kilometres amidst traffic, with the accused attempting to block the woman’s car and making lewd gestures towards her. Despite her shock, the woman managed to reach her residence. However, the ordeal did not end there. One of the assailants disembarked from the SUV and entered the lobby of the woman’s house. Through CCTV footage, the woman observed the intruder’s movements and promptly alerted her husband about the incident.

Sadar Police had registered a case of molestation based on the woman’s complaint. Given the lack of a registration number on the SUV, the police had faced challenges in identifying the perpetrators.
