PM Modi likely to launch NMC’s electric bus during visit on Sept 7

Nagpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day’s visit to Nagpur on September 7. Even though the details of Modi’s visit have not been made public by authorities, he is likely to launch various development projects. The district administration, police and Nagpur Municipal Corporation have geared up for the Prime Minister’s visit. The authorities took stock of preparations for the high profile visit.

As per information, Modi will flag off Nagpur Metro’s Aqua Line and likely to embark on a journey of the Metro from Subhash Nagar till Sitabuldi Inter-change Station. He will also launch the nationwide pension scheme for small traders and welfare scheme for unorganised sector labourers, inaugurate branch of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in city.

There is also possibility of the Prime Minister launching some projects of Nagpur Municipal Corporation including inauguration women special Tejaswini electric bus. An app ‘Chalo App’ created for Aapli Bus passengers is also likely to be launched by Modi. Considering the rainy days, all the programmes could be held in Mankapur Indoor Stadium.

It may be recalled that the State Government had provided Rs 9 crore to NMC for purchasing the women special Tejaswini buses. Five non-AC electric buses were purchased. The NMC has also set up fast charging station for the electric buses. These buses will be operated by Hyderabad-based Olectra Greentech Ltd. The company has also appointed Red Bus operator Hansa Travels as partner for smooth operation of electric buses. Presently, the NMC has not decided the routes of Tejaswini buses but it will have to pay the company Rs 42.30 per kilometre.
