Two planes collided on the ground at Chicago O’Hare Airport on Wednesday.

According to AccuWeather Meteorologist David Samuhel, the crash was not caused by weather because the Chicago O’Hare Airport area has been dry all day.

“Winds were rather light; it doesn’t look like it was weather-related,” Samuhel said.

“There was some shower and thunderstorm activity in the vicinity, but none of them occurred at the airport,” Samuhel said.

According to CBS Chicago and the FAA, while pushing back from Gate C30, United Flight 645 clipped the wing of United Airlines Flight 2746 that was parked at Gate C28. Officials say there is left wing damage to both planes.

United Flight 645 was scheduled to fly to Portland, Oregon, at 4 p.m. CDT. The flight is delayed and is set to depart at 6:15 p.m.

Flight 2746 was scheduled to depart for Cleveland, Ohio, at 3 p.m. CDT but it has been canceled.

Although the weather has been nice today, storms may hinder cleanup and recovery efforts this evening.

“There will be a shower or thunderstorm that affects the area this evening. There can be a downpour, but thunderstorms are expected to remain below severe limits,” Samuhel said.

No injuries were reported. The FAA is investigating the incident.
