PIB comes out with Reference Handbook on General Elections

Nagpur: The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India has come out with a Reference Handbook on General Elections 2019. The sole purpose of preparing this Reference Handbook is to provide information to media persons about past General Elections conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The Reference Handbook has Message by Amit Khare, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreword by Sitanshu Kar, Principal Director General (Media & Communication), PIB, and Introduction regarding Election Commission of India which was set up on January 25, 1950.

The other contents of the Reference Handbook include Schedule for General Elections 2019 to Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha & Sikkim, total Lok Sabha seats in States/UTs , 94 Parliamentary Constituencies reserved for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, Electoral Roll Data – 2019, Comparison of the Indian Electorate from 1951-1952 to 2019, Political parties that participated in General Elections 2014, Representation of political parties in 16th Lok Sabha, Winners in General Elections 2014, Winners with winning margin less than 10,000 votes in General Elections 2014, Performance of National Parties in General Elections 2014, Seats won by parties in SC Constituencies in General Elections 2014, Seats won by parties in ST Constituencies in General Elections 2014, Performance of women candidates in States/UTs in General Elections 2014, Participation of women electors in General Elections 2014 and size of electorate and valid votes polled in General Elections 2014.

The Reference Handbook is exhaustively informative and provides an insight into an array of facts and figures about General Elections from 1951-52 to 2014.
