
Nagpur: A parked four-wheeler suddenly caught fire in the Ramdaspeth area of Nagpur in the early hours of Thursday, triggering panic among residents. Thanks to the swift response of the fire brigade, the blaze was quickly brought under control and a major mishap was averted.
The incident occurred near Akshay Apartment in Ramdaspeth. The Civil Lines Fire Station received an emergency call about the fire at around 2:41 a.m. Upon receiving the alert, a fire engine from the Civil Lines Fire Brigade was immediately dispatched to the spot.
Fire brigade personnel reached the location within minutes, around 2:45 a.m., and began efforts to control the flames. Using water jets, firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze before it could spread to nearby vehicles or buildings.
According to preliminary information, the vehicle belonged to Sushma Pankule, a resident of the Akshay Apartment area. The Mahindra four-wheeler (2019 model) was parked when it suddenly caught fire.
The vehicle was severely damaged in the incident, and the preliminary estimate of the loss is around ₹5 lakh.
Fire department officials suspect that the fire may have been caused due to an electrical malfunction in the vehicle, though the exact cause will be confirmed after further investigation.
Meanwhile, the incident has been officially recorded at Sitabuldi Police Station, and police have initiated further inquiry into the matter. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.
