Parents beware: CBSE disaffiliates 20 schools across country for malpractices

Nagpur/New Delhi: In a significant move aimed at upholding the integrity of educational standards, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken decisive action against schools found indulging in malpractices. The Board has announced the disaffiliation of 20 schools and the downgrading of three others across the country. This stern action follows surprise inspections conducted by CBSE officials, which uncovered various discrepancies in adherence to affiliation and examination norms.

According to CBSE Secretary Himanshu Gupta, the surprise inspections were initiated to ensure compliance with the provisions and norms outlined in the Affiliation and Examination Bye-laws. These inspections revealed several instances of malpractice, including the presentation of dummy students, enrollment of ineligible candidates, and inadequate maintenance of records within certain schools.

In response to these findings, the CBSE has decided to disaffiliate and downgrade the identified schools after conducting thorough inquiries. Among the affected institutions, five are located in Delhi, while others are situated across various states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Dehradun, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, schools in Delhi, Punjab, and Assam have faced affiliation downgrades as a result of these investigations.

The notification issued by the CBSE emphasized the board’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of education and integrity within its affiliated institutions. It reiterated the importance of strict adherence to established norms and regulations governing educational practices to safeguard the interests of students and ensure the credibility of academic credentials.

This latest action by the CBSE underscores the Board’s proactive stance in identifying and addressing instances of malpractice within its network of affiliated schools. By holding institutions accountable for violations and enforcing appropriate penalties, the CBSE aims to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and excellence in the field of education across the country.
