Oppn parties to take out ‘Sangharsh Yatra’ for waiver of farmers’ loans

Nagpur: Pushing their demand of loan waiver to distressed farmers forward, all Opposition parties in the state have decided to hit the streets and take out ‘Sangharsh Yatra’ from Wednesday.

The Opposition parties, led by Congress and NCP, have been disrupting the proceedings of both House of Maharashtra Legislature from the very first of undergoing Budget session and demanding laon waier to farmers in the state. The Opposition parties have charged that the present BJP Government led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has totally failed to curb suicides by farmers. Recently, a farmer named Bandu alias Dnyaneshwar Kaikade of Sindewahi Tehsil in Chandrapur District committed suicide over debt. He has left mother, wife and two children. Agrarian crisis is leading farmers to take the extreme step, said the Opposition parties.

The ‘Sangharsh Yatra’ is being taken out from Wednesday, March 29. The rally would start at 8 am from Nagpur and then proceed to Palasgaon in Sindewahi tehsil of Chandrapur district via Umred-Bhiwapur-Nagbhid where the rally leaders would meet the family of Bandu Kaikade a farmer who committed suicide. It will pass through Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Amravati, Washim districts of Vidarbha before entering Marathwada and proceeding further to Panvel in western part of Maharashtra.

Over 90 MLAs and MLCs of Congress, NCP, Peasants and Workers Party, Republican Party of India (Kawade), Janata Dal (United), Samajwadi Party, and AIMIM are participating in the ‘Sangharsh Yatra’.
