
Nagpur: Continuing the citywide anti-narcotics drive “Operation Thunder”, initiated by Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singal, Crime Branch Unit 3 arrested three men with MD powder during a dawn operation in Wathoda on December 5.
Between 3 am and 5:10 am, the Crime Branch team was patrolling in the Wathoda Police Station area when reliable intelligence indicated drug activity near Payal Wine Shop on Kharbi Road. The team laid a trap and intercepted a red Honda Activa with three riders.
The suspects identified themselves as Shubham Sanjay Bonde (29), resident of Plot No. 38, Sai Baba Nagar, Kharbi, Wathoda, Abhijit Amritrao Tale (27), and Sujal Sunil Latkar (20) — both residents of Shivaji Nagar, near Gangabai Ghat, Kotwali.
A search conducted before panch witnesses led to the recovery of 11.53 grams of MD powder, packed in two zip-lock pouches. Police also seized three mobile phones and the red Activa used by the accused, taking the total seizure value to Rs 1,57,650.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed that the drugs were supplied by wanted accused Ankush alias Chivda Bhosale, a resident of Kotwali. Police inquiry also showed that two of the arrested men had previous criminal records, including registered cases of murder.
According to officials, the trio was found in possession of MD powder with the intent to sell for financial gain. Police have registered an offence under Sections 8(c), 22(b), 29 of the NDPS Act at Wathoda Police Station. The accused have been handed over to Wathoda Police for further action.
A manhunt has been launched to trace the supplier, and further investigation is ongoing.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of CP Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Joint CP Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Detection) Rahul Maknikar, and ACP (Crime Branch) Abhijit Patil. The action was led by PI Mahesh Sagde and PSI Amit Deshmukh along with the Crime Branch Unit 3 team.
