One young labourer dies in Empress City Mall

: One young labourer who was working on the under-construction I-Wing building on the tenth floor fell down from the 10th floor and died on the spot at around 12:30 pm on May 19, 2016.

According to sources, the deceased young labourer is identified as Bijoy Mantu Pahariya aged 23 years and hailing from Kamaldaha, Fatehgangpur (Part), Jiaganj, Murshidabad, West Bengal. He has been working on these building from the last few years for a meager sum of Rs 7500/-.

The contract for erection of this building has been acquired by KSL and Industries Limited (formerly known as KSL Realty and Infrastructure Limited). KSL Empress City is one of the popular residential projects that is located Near Gandhisagar Lake, developed by KSL and Industries.

The deceased Bijoy Mantu Pahariya was an employee of the KSL and Industries Company.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, some friends of the deceased Bijoy said that he was a fine gentle man. He did not have any addiction like smoking, drinking, checking tobacco etc. He was also unmarried. Like every day, he came to the work on time and was on the job.

He was involved in the work of tightening the G-I wire fastening of the bamboos for the scaffolding erected to undertake the plastering job with a metallic tool called as Katoni.

Fellow labourers who were eye-witnesses to the accident claimed that we do not know the exact cause of him falling down but saw him falling down. As soon as we saw that he has fallen down, we all hurried down and rushed him to Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (Mayo) in an auto-rickshaw. However, the attending doctors of IGGMCH declared him brought dead.

Fellow workers claimed that except for a small injury near the spleen (lower back), he had no visible injury on his head or any other part of the body. An Android Mobile phone was found on his possession which too was broken in his falling down to death.

On receipt of information of the accident, cops from Ganeshpeth Police Station reached the spot and did the panchanama. The cops led by Police Sub Inspector Ganpat Parchake went all the way to tenth floor to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. The family members and relatives of the deceased have already been informed about the unfortunate death of Bijoy Paharia.

The cops have seized the wire-tightening tool (Katoni), his Sandals and his Android Mobile Phone. Till the time of filing the story, the cops of Ganeshpeth Police Station were still completing the formalities at the spot.

Such kinds of mishaps have occurred on previous occasions too. However, the Company escaped from the onus of paying compensation to the kin of the deceased.
