One duped through TV Programme “Chehra Pehchano” aired on Sony Channel

Nagpur: Yet another brazen way of cheating innocent TV viewers has come to fore. This time, the con-men have used popular Sony TV channel for looting innocent TV viewers. They have aired a programme called KBC Chehra Pehchano (Identify the Face or Person). They had claimed that those who can identify correctly will get a Tata Safari vehicle.

A TV viewer Praveen Parasram Raut aged 30 years and a resident of Punjabrao Krishi Vidhyapeeth-Quarter No 5, Darda Street, Rahate Colony had correctly identified the face displayed on “KBC Chehra Pehchano” programme aired on Sony TV channel. Between 21/09/2014 to 28/09.2014, the complainant who had correctly identified the face had contacted on the Mobile number displayed on TV i.e. 09470014356.

When the complainant had contacted on the given mobile number 09470014356, he was told to contact the accused No 1 identified as Aman Malhotra on Mobile number 07250863489 a resident of Sector-2 Hanuman Mandir, Near Crime Branch, New Delhi and the accused No 2 identified as Rajesh Malhotra, KBC Pvt. Ltd. Hanuman Nagar, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on Mobile number 00789834782.

When the complainant called on these numbers, the accused had allegedly told the complainant that he has won a Tata Safari SUV. However, he was told to deposit Rs 17,400, Rs 25,000 and Rs 35,000 on various savings bank accounts for various allied expenses. After depositing the said amounts, when he did not receive any response from the accused, he lodged a complaint with the Dhantoli Police Station. PSI Mesre of Dhantoli Police Station registered a case against the accused under section 420, 34 of Indian Penal Code and has started investigations in this regard.
