Omicron set to dampen Christmas, New Year’s bash as grand celebrations barred in Nagpur

Nagpur: The threat of Omicron variant of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) looming large is set to rob revellers of New Year’s Eve and Christmas celebrations, as Guardian Minister Nitin Raut has barred grand celebrations in the district. The Minister, however, gave nod for small gatherings and functions for holding celebrations adhering to Covid norms.

In a recent meeting chaired by Raut and attended by Divisional Commissioner Prajakta Lavangare-Verma, District Collector Vimala R, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar and others, the Guardian Minister announced the precautionary measures.

Come the last month of the year, the plans for New Year Eve revelry arte in the air across the country. And the Orange City is certainly not an exemption! However, since the dawn of the pandemic, people are compelled to face the new normal.

The Nagpur city which usually would gear up for numerous 31st bashes — from high voltage DJ to mouth-watering food coupled with booze the organizers promise revellers all — at the parties usually held in prominent resorts, clubs and farmhouses. However, the organisers will either have to apply cap on their entry or call off the celebration, this year, too in view of Omicron threat.
