Nagpur: To safeguard public health and ensure access to safe drinking water for citizens, Orange City Water (OCW) has launched a special public awareness campaign. Through this initiative, OCW is sharing the experiences of citizens who have transitioned from unauthorised water usage to legal municipal water connections.

In certain parts of the city, some residents were unknowingly using unauthorised water connections due to a lack of awareness. In a few cases, water was being drawn simultaneously from old and new pipelines, while bills were paid for only one connection. Such unauthorised usage posed a serious risk of contaminated water and related health issues. Moreover, since these residents were not registered as official consumers, they were deprived of several municipal facilities. Citizens who proactively regularised their water connections are now enjoying the following benefits:

Gold 24 KT ₹ 1,39,100/-
Gold 22 KT ₹ 1,29,400 /-
Silver/Kg ₹ 2,49,700/-

Free tanker service: In case of a contaminated water complaint, a free tanker is provided to authorised customers.

24/7 helpdesk: Round-the-clock call centre support for any assistance.

Citizens’ Experiences:

Residents from various zones have shared how life has become more convenient after obtaining legal water connections.

Mr Georgy Panna from the Sataranjipura Zone stated, “There were severe water-related issues in this area earlier, but now they have been completely resolved.”

Ms Shaheen Hussain, a resident of Nehrunagar Zone, shared that since the installation of a new pipeline, the water supply has been very good.

Ms Swati Pravin Lanjewar from the Ashinagar Zone said, “Earlier, we were receiving sewage-mixed water. We lodged a complaint with OCW, and now new pipelines have been installed, and the water supply has resumed properly.”

Mr Sanket Manpaiya from the Dhantoli Zone mentioned that their pipeline was recently shifted, resulting in improved water supply, and that bills are now generated strictly as per actual consumption.

Ms Seema Rohankar from the Gandhibagh Zone recalled that there was a major water problem earlier, but now the supply is regular and adequate.

Mr Rajaram Parate from the Sataranjipura Zone said, “We now receive water twice a day, it is clean, and I am satisfied with the meter-based billing.”

NMC-OCW appeals to citizens to act responsibly by using only legal water connections. This not only benefits individuals but also strengthens the overall public health system of the city.
