OCW bags National Award for ‘Excellence in Corporate Communication’

Nagpur: From quenching thirst of millions in Nagpur to its efforts to motivate people to adopt good practices, Orange City communication-awardWater Pvt. Ltd. (OCW)’s endeavour has got the honours for the Best City Communication and was bestowed with the ‘National Award for Excellence in Corporate Communication’.

The award was presented by 6th World CSR Day at a gala event at Vivanta by Taj in Bangaluru recently. The award recognises the contribution of the communications team in integrating information of various divisions and communicating with key stakeholders.

OCW is a joint venture between Vishavaraj Environment Ltd, a leading infrastructure company, and Veolia Water Pvt Ltd, a world leader in the water sector. It is a special purpose vehicle established for implementation of the central government’s ambitious uninterrupted Water Supply Scheme, popularly known as 24×7 Water Supply Project.

“This is a great achievement for OCW and its people who tirelessly work to make it successful,” said Arun Lakhani, Chief Promoter of Orange City Water (OCW) and Chairman and Managing Director of Vishvaraj Infrastructure Ltd. “This team of 45 professionals who are the bridge between the organisation and the people work diligently on the field and pass on intended messages accurately, efficiently and effectively.”

“The project is not just a technical project but also a socio-economic project involving change in the mindsets, habits and lifestyle of people. I congratulate everybody in OCW for their hard work and making this project as a model for all public private partnership projects in the country,” he added.

OCW believe that to ensure the success of this life-changing project for the citizens, adding 4th P i.e. People to the PPP is essential. On-boarding citizens and sharing the ownership of the project with them will endear the project and subsequently OCW, as an organization to the People.

OCW CEO Sanjoy Roy expressed his delight saying, “Our desire and efforts of reaching out to the citizens of Nagpur have been recognized at National Level and we are very happy about it. This has boosted our commitment towards the Citizens even further and we will continue the same with increased vigor.”

Sanjoy Roy informed that OCW focused its communication strategy keeping in mind that it should be interesting, entertaining, and participatory and aimed at measurable effectiveness. 1. Mohalla & Group Meetings

Meeting with community dwellers at various phases of the project.
First, before the implementation that involves information about project benefits, its importance and other nitty-gritties of the project. Second, during the execution i.e. the actual rehabilitation works, regarding documents required to avail the project benefits, the plan of action, etc. Lastly, after the completion of work, regarding water conservation, metered connections, do’s and don’ts to control the consumption and hence the bill, regular payment of bills, etc.

2. OCW Water Friends
To build the ownership among the People, responsible, vigilant and influential people are identified as Water Friends who act as ambassadors of the Project in their own communities. This helps build a rapport with society and in gaining trust as well.

3. Jal Samwad (School & College Awareness Programs)

Students are the future of society. Considering this fact, a massive campaign of School & College Awareness Program is being conducted. These aware students have proven to be great conductors of the message to their parents, families and neighborhood who really understand the conservation of very important resource as water.

4. Participation in various Social Events in City
Being an important and vibrant part of the city life, OCW is always eager in participating in the city events like River Cleaning, Swachchta Abhiyan, etc. The Nagpur Municipal Corporation recently felicitated OCW for its active and valuable participation in the ‘Nag Nadi (from which Nagpur derives its name) Swachchta Abhiyan’.

5. Consumer Grievance Redressal Cell @ 7028903636
To ensure not just consumer satisfaction but consumer delight, the employees must present their best self at all times while dealing with the consumers. A dedicated Consumer Grievance Redress Cell established by OCW which help the consumer to address the grievances related to employee behavior. This feature has endeared itself to the consumers as they feel attended instantly.

These initiatives helped a long way in establishing a strong bond between the People and OCW.

OCW has earned various prestigious accolades in the past like Special Recognition in SAP, Special Achievement in GIS, Utility Best Practice Award, Global Water Intelligence’s Water Deal of the Year 2013 and, most importantly, the Best PPP Operator Award by The Water Digest. At the launch of AMRUT mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the project as a National Best Practice in presence of 500 mayors and municipal commissioners from across the country. OCW is committed to serve the community with uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water.
