Nagpur: The Second Capital of Maharashtra is set to get another Vande Bharat Express, this will be the second one to operate from Nagpur. Confirming the development, railway officials said the new train sanctioned by the Railway Ministry will run between Nagpur and Secunderabad, local media reports said.
The train is going to provide faster connectivity between the two cities and also benefit parts of Vidarbha region between Nagpur and Secunderabad. The details about timings of the new Vande Bharat Express will be announced soon, the reports said.
Secunderabad-Hyderabad has emerged on the software industry map and now Nagpur too is slowly catching-up with the twin cities’ capacity. Hence, the Vande Bharat train is going to provide connectivity to the region. Recently, Maharashtra Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar had written to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw demanding Vande Bharat Express between Nagpur and Secunderabad.
Mungantiwar elaborated on close connections between Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and neighbouring Vidarbha. A number of people from Andhra are running business enterprises in Chandrapur and Nagpur areas. The two regions have close trade relations and hence a faster train connectivity can ease travel woes of students, professionals and business persons.
The 575 kms are already connected by 22 Mail/Express trains and Vande Bharat is now an additional connection and this semi-high speed train is going to be launched as soon as tracks are upgraded. More than that with Vande Bharat Express will be a boon for those shuttling between Chandrapur and Nagpur as faster travel will cut the time taken to reach either cities.
The first Vande Bharat Express from Nagpur to Bilaspur was flagged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11, 2022.
