Now onwards, those technical colleges that do not fulfill the criteria of adequate resources like necessary apparatus or equipments, high quality education, infrastructure and research facilities would be starved of the grants. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has decided to act tough against such colleges that flaunt the UGC rules and regulations. The UGC will delete the flawed colleges from 12(B) Status and penalize them. No grants.

Moreover, if any college wants to start technical courses in future, the college will have to provide high standard education, infrastructure facilities and encourage research. Then only the college would receive regular affiliation. It is mandatory for all universities to follow UGC rules and regulations and send a list of affiliated technical colleges with reports to UGC. Similarly, the universities will have to put the information in this regard in their websites.

The UGC has made it clear that the new technical colleges will have to submit applications to National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for assessment of their colleges in order to receive affiliation. The applications to NBA are must within six months of starting the new technical colleges and, for the six-year old technical colleges, it is mandatory to submit applications to NAAC and BMA for seek recognition.
