Nagpur: The residents of lendi talao turned to Congress Municipal Corporator Ramesh Punekar for help after the Collectors office served a notice for removing the encroachments at Lendi Talao. A wave of fear spread in the area. Today in the morning, in presence of hundreds of people keeping the speaker on he spoke to Central Nagpur’s MLA Vikas Kumbhare. He apprised him of their plight and urged him to help them. MLA Kumbhare assured the people that he would not allow a single house to be razed. After 14 December he will hold detailed discussion with the people and then meet the collector.

It may be mentioned that last week the Chief Minister had called an important meeting to clear the nearly 22 pending issues of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. During this meeting the ruling party members had demanded, the encroachments to be removed from the central Nagpur’s historic Lendi talao and to revive it.

After hearing this, the Chief Minister had asked the collector to take up the issue and do as per demand. Following the instructions of Chief Minister the collector’s office had served notice to the owners of illegal structures and had surveyed the main land of Lendi Talao. This shook the encroachers of Lendi Talao.

The residents here immediately started meeting the former leaders and the present Municipal Corporator Ramesh Punekar and urged them to solve their problem. Punekar and Kumbhare assured them all possible help. According to Punekar people have their ancestral houses here on Lendi Talao and the remaining Talo is of no use. He further said that the administration acquire Naik Talao from the Naik family by giving compensation to them and revive it so people’s requirement of water is fulfilled. He also suggested that the district administration should acquire the open land from administration and create lakes around the city. He said that they will get justice for the people of Lendi Talao even if they have to go to the court.
