Nagpur: All animals are not created equal – George Orwell

“All animals are equal” the famous book Animal Farm written by well known author George Orwell who was known for his political satire had begun off by this affirmation by all animals living together on a fictional farm.

By the end of the book, the statement had been revised to –

“All animals are equal. But some are more equal than the others”. (This had been a spoof on Stalin’s brand of Communism in Russia).

Well – the statement holds literally true for animals in Maharashtra at the moment. When the erudite Justice Kanade had asked of our Advocate General in the High Court ” why ban only cow and bull slaughter? What about other animals?” Advocate Manohar had replied ” this is only the beginning, we may consider banning goat slaughter also later…”

This had led to a lot of furore among non veg food lovers.

Today the CM stepped in to clarify that no such move was being planned on ban of slaughter of other animals.

This assurance of the CM is bringing cheer to those who like their Tandoori chickens and Mutton saojis.
For those, who could not afford this high class and high cost non veg and depended on the cheaper beef for their protein are still sad. Happens – Har kisiko mukkamal jahan naheen milta!
