NMC’s UPHCs organise various health events to mark International Women’s Day

The Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) of Nagpur Municipal Corporation organised various events to mark International Women’s Day on March 8. Couselling and health camps were organised by the UPHCs.

At Futala UPHC, Dr Renuka Yavalkar and her staff undertook medical check-up for teenage girls, lactating mothers, pregnant mothers, children aged between 0 and 12 group. Counselling of lactating and pregnant mothers on the importance of breast feeding “First Breast Crawl” was done through a video presentation. Similarly, guidance on nutritional intake was also provided to the pregnant mothers through “Mother Absolute Affection” (MAA) and Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign.

At Jaitala UPHC, Dr Vivekanand Mathpati and his team provided free treatment and held an eye check-up by experts. At Hazaripahad UPHC, Dr Vijay Verma and other staff organised a health camp at Tekdi Buddha Vihar and checked Bone Marrow Density by latest machines. Treatment for afflicted women was administered at the camp. Similarly, medical check-up of around 400 women was done at Mominpura UPHC by Dr Arefa Ali and her team. Health camps were also organised at Babulkheda and Bidipeth UPHCs under the guidance of Dr Ashlesha Gadvail and Dr Shinde respectively.


The events were held under guidance of NMC Health Officer (M) Dr Anil Chivhane, Dr Sheetal Patil (CPM), and Dr Nilesh Babhre (CAM). The expert doctors who rendered their help at the medical camps include Dr Trikande (Paeditrician), Dr Anjali Dange (Gynaecologist), Dr Wasnik (Paeditrician), Dr Kamalesh Bhoyar (Paeditrician), Dr Hemangi Bhanarkar, and Dr Yadav.
