Nagpur: G.M. Banatwala – the only English medium school of NMC near Teka Naka is on the verge of closure as there is serious dearth of teachers in proportion to the number of students. The school has 1400 students in the ongoing session. These students belong to economically backward section. The NMC officials have turned a blind eye towards the problem.

On one hand, the NMC officials brag about providing extra teachers in their schools but on the other side they are not providing ample number of teachers. The officials are even neglecting the poor condition of school buildings. Moreover, there is no concern about safety measures or renovation of school buildings.

It may be mentioned that state government has alloted funds Rs 46 lakh to NMC to foot expenses incurred on stationery, uniform and teachers in all its schools. As per the rule students have to purchase the uniform first, then it’s bill shall be produced to the school administration. Then the bill amount will be deposited in students account. However it is learnt that total 18,000 students in current session don’t have school uniforms. They are unable to purchase it for various reasons. So now the question is when did NMC will awake from deep slumber?
