NMC’s Aapli bus employees threaten indefinite hunger strike

Nagpur: Bharatiya Kamgar Sena representatives Bhaurao Rewatkar and Ambadas Shende through a letter to Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal on 19 Jan 2018, had informed that through a circular on 13 June 2017 had directed that the employees working on contract basis be given minimum wages. But besides Kanak Management Resource which comes under the Health Department none others followed the orders and gave minimum wages. Even the employees working for Aapli bus service of Nagpur Municipal Coporation (NMC) have been deprived of the minimum wages. Bharatiya Kamgar Sena had continuously through letters on 14 Sept 2017, 9 Oct 2017, 30 Oct 2017, 16 Dec 2017 demanded the minimum wages be given.

According to Rwatkar On 30 oct 2017 in presence of Municipal Commissioner discussion was held regarding minimum wages and other demands. During the discussion assurance was given to solve the problems within 15 days but till date the administration has not fulfilled the assurance but in fact it dismissed the employees demanding minimum wages.

Bharatiya Kamgar Sena has demanded that as per the circular of 13 June 2017 the minimum wasges should be given to all the employees. It has also demanded that there should be an inquiry Department so that before dismissing the employees proper inquiry be done. And those not found guilty after the inquiry and unnecessarily dismissed should be reinstated. The suspended employees be given half payment.

Bharatiya Kamgar Sena has demanded that their demands be fulfilled before 20 Feb 2018 or from 20 Feb itself Bharatiya Kamgar Sena would start indefinite hunger strike for their demands and the NMC administration would be responsible for all the inconvenience caused.

The copies of memorandum have been sent to Chief Minister’s office, Guardian Minister’s office, Additional Labour Commissioner, District Collector, Police Commissioner, Mayor, Transport Chairman, Transport Manager, all bus operators, SIS Security and Unit Security and also to DIMTS which has been taking care transport service on behalf of NMC.

The NMC Transport Manager Shivaji Jagtap has given an ultimatium to employees who are attached to Kamagar Sena that those driver and conductotrs who go on strike will be dismissed.
