NMC to launch “Prashikshan Aplya Dari” scheme soon for creating more women entrepreneurs

Nagpur: The Women and Children Welfare Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation is launching a “Prashikshan Aplya Dari” (Training at your doorstep) scheme soon aimed at creating more and more women entrepreneurs in the city.

A meeting of the Committee was held on Wednesday in which the Chairperson Varsha Thakre directed the officials to ensure benefits of various State, Central and NMC schemes being implemented for development of entrepreneurs reached all sections of the society. “NMC should organise training for entrepreneur and skill development at Prabhag level,” Thakre said. “Responsibility of informing the needy persons about various State and Central schemes lies with this Committee and all should try in this direction,” she said.

The meeting was attended among others by Deputy Chairperson Shraddha Pathak, members Laxmi Yadav, Divya Ghurde, Vandana Bhagat, Sakshi Raut, Vaishali Narnavre, Deputy Commissioner Dr Ranjana Lade, Social Welfare Department’s Sharda Gadkar, MIS expert Nutan Morey, NULM’s Pramod Khobragade, Assistant Education Officers Kusum Chaflekar, Meena Gupta, and other officials.

The Social Welfare Department apprised the meeting about various schemes being implemented by the department such as Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine, Mahila Melava, programmes to mark International Women’s Day, distribution of sewing machines, skill development training camp etc.

In the year 2016-17, a total of 1017 Bachat Gats have been registered with Social welfare Department. So far, loans to the tune of Rs 6.50 lakh under ALF and Rs 32.50 lakh assistance has been provided to 333 Bachat Gats. Information regarding counselling centres being run in all ten zones and their activities was given in the meeting.
