Nagpur: In a significant decision aimed at encouraging academic excellence, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has approved scholarships of Rs 50,000 each for 50 meritorious students from its schools who have passed Class 10 and are pursuing education in Classes 11 and 12. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari has sanctioned the scheme, under which the scholarship amount will be disbursed in two installments every year.
The initiative will be implemented for deserving students from NMC-run schools who pass the Class 10 board exams scheduled for March 2026. The main objective of the scheme is to motivate students to pursue higher education and ease their financial difficulties.
Currently, NMC operates 28 schools in the city, including 7 Marathi-medium, 11 Hindi-medium, 9 Urdu-medium, and 1 English-medium school. Of these, 11 are semi-English medium schools.
According to NMC officials, the financial assistance will help students purchase necessary educational materials and continue their studies smoothly in junior colleges.
The civic administration believes that this decision will provide a strong financial foundation for NMC school students aspiring to advance toward higher education.
