Nagpur: The stage is set for the much-awaited announcement of reservations for the upcoming Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections. The State Election Commission has accelerated the process and is likely to declare the final reservation list on November 11, sources said. The reservation for the Mayor’s post will also be announced on the same day.
With this development, political activity has intensified across party lines. Sources suggest that major political parties may not give tickets to several sitting corporators this time, signaling a reshuffle in local leadership.
The final reservation list will be crucial for the 2025 civic elections, determining the structure of reserved seats for women, OBCs, and Scheduled Castes. The process, pending since 2020, has now gained momentum and the final notification is expected between November 17 and 24.
According to sources, the upcoming reservation could bring significant changes compared to the previous polls, altering ward compositions and potentially eliminating some existing seats—creating unease among current corporators and seasoned leaders alike.
