Nagpur: A galaxy of leaders and officials including Mayor Pravin Datke, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and Ruling Party Leader in Nagpur Municipal Corporation Dayashankar Tiwari paid their homage to Architect of Indian Constitution Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 60th Mahaparinirvan Din (death anniversary) on December 6. The dignitaries visited the Samvidhan Chowk (RBI Square) and garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar while paying their tributes. Later, Datke, Hardikar and Tiwari also garlanded the oil portrait of Dr Ambedkar installed at Central Office of NMC in Civil Lines and rendered Buddha Vandana while remembering him on behalf of the city.
Other NMC officials who remembered the Dalit mascot include Additional Municipal Commissioners Nayana Gunde, Dr R Z Siddiqui, Addl Deputy Commissioners Pramod Bhusari, Jayant Dandegaonkar, NMC Secretary Harish Dubey, Assistant Director (Town Planning) Supriya Thool, Deputy Director (Health) Dr Milind Ganvir, PRO Ashok Kolhatkar, Executive Engineers Rahul Warke, Manoj Talewar, Shyam Chavan, Estate Officer D D Jambhulkar and a large number of other officials.
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar breathed his last on December 6, 1956. He was born on April 14, 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.
