Nagpur: Keeping in mind the large number of wedding halls and lawns in city but no existence of norms and sub-laws to monitor their activities, the Chairman of NMC’s Medical Services and Health Committee Devendra Meher has directed the concerned officials to draft sub-laws for the halls on the lines of Thane Municipal Corporation. A meeting of the Committee was held today in the presence of Standing Committee Chairman Ramesh Singare.

At the outset, the Chairman Meher sought information on zone-wise marriage halls and lawns and amounts recovered from them as penal action. Similarly, Meher directed the officials to send NMC’s teams to mosquito infested areas of city for eradication and control of dengue virus. The NMC squads should create awareness among the citizens on measures to control the disease. The threat of swine flu should also be taken seriously and steps taken to contain the disease. The Malaria Officer Jayashree Thote informed the meeting that a concerted drive was undertaken in Asinagar and Mangalwari Zones for creating awareness among citizens over preventive steps to control dengue and swine flu. Deputy Chairperson of the Committee urged for fogging operations specially in and around nallah areas.
