Nagpur: The Health Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday cracked the whip on a bogus doctor practicing in Laxminagar and Bharatwada areas of Kalamna and playing with lives of gullible citizens. The bogus doctor has been identified as Bhagirath Gendre.
Acting on a complaint received by Health Department, a team of Bogus Doctor Search Campaign Committee reached the clinic at 9 am and found a person named Bhagirath Gendre practicing medicine. A board named Arogya Clinic was put up with written words Bhagirath Gendre, D.A.M.S. (Allo), C.M.S.E.E.D. degrees. Further inspection revealed that allopathic medicines were being used and patients were being checked by Bhagirath Gendre.
When the team demanded Gendre to produce certified medical education documents as well as Medical Council registration certificate, he failed to produce any of the certificates. In fact, Gendre did not possess the documents authorised by Maharashtra Government at all. The team immediately contacted Kalamna Police Station. Subsequently, the cops summoned Bhagirath Gendre for enquiry. A detailed enquiry by the Health Department, Bogus Doctor Search Campaign Committee and Kalamna police found that Gendre was indulging in business of allopathic medicines without authorisation from competent authorities.
With the revelation, an FIR was lodged against the bogus doctor Bhagirath Gendre with Kalamna police as per the directive of Additional Municipal Commissioner Dr Ramnath Sonavane and Health Officer (M) Dr Narendra Bahirwar. The Medical Officer Dr Sunil Ghurde filed the FIR. Medical Officer Dr Vijay Tiwari and Food Inspector Mukund Khuje participated in the action.
