Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) Transport and Electrical Departments have set up a 33kV/0.433kV substation at the ‘Aapli Bus’ E-Bus Depot in Koradi to strengthen the city’s electric bus infrastructure. The newly constructed substation was formally inaugurated on Tuesday by Additional Municipal Commissioner Vasumana Pant.
Present on the occasion were Executive Engineer (Electrical) Rajendra Rathod, Administrative Officer (Aapli Bus) Yogesh Lunge, Electrical Engineer Prashant Kalbande, and several other NMC officials and staff members.
Significantly, this marks the first-ever substation to be fully designed and completed by NMC’s Electrical Department itself, under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, leadership of Additional Commissioner Vasumana Pant, and supervision of Deputy Commissioner and Transport Manager Rajesh Bhagat.
The project aligns with the Prime Minister’s E-Bus Service Scheme, implemented across India through the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to promote eco-friendly urban transport. Under this initiative, Nagpur will receive 150 new electric buses, of which 75 will operate from the Koradi depot and the remaining 75 from the Khapri depot.
The newly established substation will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted power supply and efficient operation of the upcoming e-bus fleet in Nagpur.
