Putting hoardings and thereby hogging self-publicity has proved costly for an Independent Corporator as Municipal Commissioner Shyam Wardhane has cracked a whip on Thursday and ordered filing of an FIR against the Corporator.  Assistant Commissioner Prakash Warade of Mangalwari Zone has been directed to lodge a police complaint against the Independent Corporator  for illegally putting hoardings at many places in West Nagpur.
The Corporator had allegedly put up dozens of hoardings at many places including Zingabai Takli and Gorewada. Taking serious note of the illegal action, Wardhane directed the Mangalwari Zone officials to not only remove the hoardings but also lodge an FIR with the city police in this connection.
Warade said the Independent Corporator had neither sought any permission from the zone office to erect hoardings nor the office had given any consent. He said, as per directions of the Municipal Commissioner, the process to lodge an FIR was in progress and it would be filed with Gittikhadan Police Station. He, however, failed to give a convincing answer as to why an FIR was not lodged early when the zone office had detected and removed illegal hoardings.
