NMC babus undertake ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign to mark Gandhi Jayanti

Nagpur: Officials and employees of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) wielded brooms and cleaned the premises of Civil Line-based headquarters under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign to mark 150th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on October 2. The babus also undertook ‘swachhata’ of various departments in the building.

The NMC officials and employees gathered at the headquarters in Civil Lines at 8 am and wielded brooms for ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign. The cleanliness drive was undertaken led by heads of various departments. Assistant Commissioner (GAD) Mahesh Dhamecha led from the front and cleaned the premises. Teams of various departments was formed for the swachhata abhiyan. Premises of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building, old building of civic body, Health Department and Fire Brigade office, garden, parking lot were cleaned.

Those who participated in ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign include all Assistant Commissioners of zones, officials and employees of various departments, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Chairpersons of all 10 zones, Assistant Commissioner (Tax) Milind Meshram, several Corporators, citizens from all zones in large numbers.

At the outset, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Dhamecha paid floral tributes to portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the Mayor’s chamber in the central office of NMC in Civil Lines.
