Nagpur:
Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday directed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to prepare Rs 5 crore proposal each for beautification of Futala, Ambazari, Gandhisagar, Sakkardara and Lendi Talao and send the proposal to District-level Committee within a month. Bawankule also directed that henceforth all the proposals regarding different development projects should be prepared by NMC and not by Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT).

A meeting, held at office of Divisional Commissioner, was presided over by Bawankule and attended by MLAs Sudhakar Deshmukh, Ashish Deshmukh, Mallikarjun Reddy, Sudhakar Kohale, Sunil Kedar, Divisional Commissioner Anup Kumar and other senior officials. “All the proposals of beautification of these five lakes should be prepared by NMC and the civic body and Tourism Development Department should submit them to District-level Committee. After receiving the proposals, they will be approved immediately. Similarly, development plan for Botanical Garden and Seminary Hills should also be prepared. No proposals will be prepared by NIT,” Bawankule said.

No development funds to Nagar Panchayats unless….:
In a major decision, the District Collector was directed not to provide development funds to Nagar Panchayats in the absence of development plan, sewage treatment plant and waste management. The district comprises 13 Nagar Parishads and five Nagar Panchayats. Limits of development plans of many of Nagar Parishads have got over. All these Nagar Parishads were asked to prepare development plans afresh three months ago. In the last financial year, the State Government had given Rs 450 crore to Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats. It has come to notice that many works are carried out without development plans. Similarly, Waste Management and Sewage Treatment Plant are important works. Every civic body will have to carry out these works mandatorily, Bawankule said.
