Nagpur – With the Supreme Court clearing the way for construction and fountain works at Futala Lake, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has instructed the administration to speed up the project’s completion.
During a review meeting held at his residence on Friday, October 31, Gadkari emphasized the need to resume the work immediately after assessing both financial and technical aspects. The meeting was attended by former MLA Sudhakar Kohale, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, MSIDC Managing Director Dr. Brijesh Dixit, fountain art director and actress Revathi, and MahaMetro Project Director Rajeev Tyagi.
Gadkari directed officials to prepare a fresh cost estimate before restarting the work and to identify areas requiring corrections. He also suggested exploring the possibility of reusing damaged cables from the fountain system in other civic projects. Stressing the importance of quality, Gadkari asked the concerned agencies to ensure that all construction and installation work meets high standards.
The Futala Fountain project, envisioned as a major attraction for Nagpur, had been stalled for several months due to legal and technical hurdles, which have now been resolved.
