The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari during a trial run of the show had proposed to name the Futala musical fountain after Lata Mangeshkar. The Minister had said he had discussed the proposal to name the city’s newest attraction after Lata Mangeshkar with Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and he also agreed. The fountains would display Lata Mangeshkar’s image while playing her memorable songs during the show. Earlier, the trial shows of the musical fountains were held in the past few days.

Notice to Project Contractor:
A notice has been issued to Studio One Khalatkar Construction Consortium – who is the contractor appointed by NIT for the Futala Lake Project – for organising the trial show of the fountain on September 15 without the permission of NIT. The contractor also sent invites without mentioning names of Chief Minister, Union Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and MLAs. The NIT Trustees expressed their displeasure and issued a notice and asked for a clarification in the next meeting. Further action will be taken after receiving the response.
