Nagpur: Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) has evinced interest in the ongoing redevelopment project of Ambazari garden. At a meeting of Board of Directors held on Wednesday, a resolution about seeking permission to develop the garden was adopted. Maharashtra Government has allotted 44 acres of Revenue and NIT owned land at Ambazari garden to Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) for its redevelopment. Already development work is on and as such NIT’s resolution is alike throwing a spanner, feel the experts. Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi, Chairman, NIT, presided over 1198th meeting of Board of Trustees. Vikas Thakre, MLA; Prakash Bhoyar, Chairman, Standing Committee, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), Sanjay Bangale, nominee of NMC, all Trustees; apart from ex-officio members including R Vimala, along with Lina Upadhye, Superin-tending Engineer; Lalit Raut, Executive Officer; and Nishikant Suke, General Manager; were present at the meeting.
Thakre said MTDC has given the Ambazari garden on lease to a private company for 30-years period. The company has agreed to provide Rs. 1.5 crores annually but the MLA was of view that since NIT’s land is also included in the deal, it would be better if the agency itself develops the garden for larger benefit of people. At his insistence, NIT adopted the resolution and would forward the same to State Government. Among the various works approved by the Board of Trustees included, development of public utility project on NIT’s land at Mauza Chikli (Deosthan) in East Nagur. The plan is to have a food market and also construct big warehouses.
This land is along space earmarked to Kirana Merchants. They are given 40 acres land for relocation of wholesale Kirana Merchants, they are currently functioning from congested Itwari market where scope for redevelopment is limited. Also the NIT Board agreed to provide land to city police for construction of building for Kalamna police station at Mouza Pardi at today’s market price. The land admeasuring about 1934.802 sq.mtr. Also Rs. 22 crores was released to Shree Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Deosthan, Koradi, towards ongoing development of tourist facilities.
The land earmarked for police station is at Khasra 3/3 (part), 3/2. Right now the police station is located inside Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Kalamna market and proposal is to relocate it on main road so that citizens can access it anytime. Similarly, land parcel of Khasara No. 87 at Bhamti-Parsodi categorised for public/semi-public utility was decided to be earmarked for allotment to construct Dispensary / Maternity Home. NIT would invite proposal from interested parties for the same. Also, the Board approved to carry out all regularisation work in unauthorised layouts under Gunthewari Act. NIT has given extension till August 31, 2021, for dispatch of ground rent for year 2021-22; pension to retired employees in period of January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2018, as per 7th pay commission; also approved Department of Finance circular about increasing provision of advance to NIT’s employees for construction of the houses.
