Nagpur: Taking the construction of an apartment building not according to sanctioned map seriously, the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) bulldozed several portions of the building and also slapped the builder with a fine and security deposit.
The offending builder has been identified as Pramod Barai. Barai, running a firm named M/s Barai Builder and Developers, had undertaken construction of a G+4 at Plot No. 165, Khasra No. 17/9, near Dhomne Layout in Ayodhya Nagar. However, the builder, carried out illegal construction in the apartment building by way of closing all the balconies of both the sides of the building in order to have extra space for residents. In fact, the NIT had issued a notice to the builder at the time of construction of foundation itself on 8.7.2015 sensing a fishy plan on the part of Pramod Barai.
The NIT, acting on complaints of prospective buyers of the flats in the apartment as well as other citizens, undertook a demolition drive and bulldozed the portions constructed at balcony places.
The action was initiated under the guidance and directives of Rajiv Pimple, Executive Engineer of NIT’s South Division and was carried out by a team led by Assistant Engineer Sandeep Raut, Vinod Khulgi and other personnel.
The M/s Barai Builder and Developers has been slapped with a fine of Rs 50,000 towards demolition charges as well as security deposit of Rs 2 lakh payable within 30 days.
