Meeting on Tuberculosis Free India Mission took place at Nagpur Municipal Corporation

Nagpur: In accordance with the determination to make India TB free by 2025 under the National Tuberculosis Eradication Program, Additional Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Ram Joshi appealed to the Non-Governmental and Voluntary Organisations to take up the guardianship of TB patients and help to eradicate TB by providing nutritious food to the TB patients.

A meeting of Non-Governmental Organisations and Voluntary Organisations for Tuberculosis Free India Mission was held in the hall of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Administrative Building at the Municipal Headquarters. On this occasion, Additional Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Ram Joshi, City Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Shilpa Jichkar, Sangita Shingane, Uttam Madhumatke, Maitri Parivar Sanstha Founder Prakash Rathkanthiwar, Neha Pathania of V7 Foundation and more than 12 members of NGOs were present along with Hemant Khangar of Shree Swami Narayan Society.

Ram Joshi while guiding on this occasion said that Nagpur Municipal Corporation is creating public awareness about tuberculosis among the citizens. To banish tuberculosis from India by 2025, with the help of various social organizations, the municipal corporation has decided to make Nagpur free of tuberculosis in the next few years. Joshi appealed to the social organisations to take the initiative and take the initiative to take the guardianship of tuberculosis patients. Earlier, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Radhakrishnan B had appealed to the municipal employees to personally take the guardianship of at least one tuberculosis patient.

The objectives of this campaign are to increase the participation of individuals and social organisations in TB eradication efforts, to mobilize social support for the fight against TB, to raise public awareness about TB, to reduce the stigma associated with TB in society through public awareness, to reduce the cost burden of TB patients and their relatives, to provide nutrition to TB patients under treatment and to improve their treatment outcomes.

Non-Government and Social Organisations, Individuals, Institutions both Public and Private Industry Organisations, Corporates, Industrial Voluntary Organisations, Trade Associations and Individuals and Partners, a mechanism has been implemented through the City Tuberculosis Office to coordinate the achievement of the TB-Free India objective through this mechanism at least one TB patient under treatment within the city of Nagpur. It is expected for the year to provide assistance to the patients through adoption, nutritional assistance, professional support, diagnostic assistance, under this scheme, those who wish to voluntarily help TB patients in the above manner should participate.
