Nagpur: A newborn baby girl allegedly stolen from Daga Hospital in Nagpur was safely recovered by police within six hours of the incident. A woman was taken into custody from the Tipu Sultan Chowk area in connection with the case.
According to police, the baby was found safe at the house of the woman’s neighbour. The child was subsequently reunited with her parents.
A photograph of the missing newborn that went viral on social media proved to be a crucial lead in the investigation. Acting on the information gathered from the photograph, police intensified their search and managed to trace the baby within hours.
The woman detained by police is being questioned to determine how and why the newborn was taken from the hospital and whether anyone else was involved in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
