New York: Explosion Reported at Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, 4 Injured; Suspect Held

New York: An explosion was reported at Port Authority Bus Terminal near Times Square in New York on Monday. Taking to Twitter, the New York Police Department (NYPD) said that a total of 4 injuries have been reported at the scene of an explosion at Port Authority and all injuries are non-life-threatening. The NYPD also informed that it has taken one male suspect into the custody and is responding to the explosion at the 42nd Avenue in the city.

“One male suspect is in custody. Avoid the area. Subways bypassing #PortAuthority and Times Square Stations. Info is preliminary,” the New York Police Department posted after the bast.

“The NYPD is responding to reports of an explosion of unknown origin at 42nd Street and 8th Ave, #Manhattan,” tweeted the police department. The A, C and E line are being evacuated at this time. Info is preliminary, more when available,” the department said.

It has also issued a traffic advisory which reads,”No cars allowed to exit FDR Drive from 59st to 42nd St., — 45th to 40th St., 7th to 9th Ave remains closed.”

Local news channel WABC quoted police sources as saying a possible pipe bomb detonated in a passageway below ground at Port Authority.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump was briefed on the explosion, White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote on Twitter.
