EGS and Water Conservation Minister Dr Nitin Raut also the Guardian M inister of Nagpur district inspected the progress of Ram Jhula project, city’s first cable-stayed bridge. He asked the officials concerned to ensure that the project was completed by October.
Since 2006, the project has seen three Guardian Ministers who set new deadlines. In the process, two Guardian Ministers were changed including Satish Chaturvedi and Shivajirao Moghe. Raut has replaced Moghe recently as Guardian Minister. After holding meetings of District Planning Committee and city’s developmental issues, Raut made it a point to visit Ram Jhula also, which has proven to be a monument of delayed development.
Municipal Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, City Engineer Sanjay Gaikwad. Deputy Engineer Damodhar Jambhulkar, Executive Engineer of Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) Samay Nikose, Deputy Engineer Dipti Kale, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) official Mendhe. Afcons India official Arun Kumar, Sanjay Chaudhary of RITES Limited, and Raj Kumar also accompanied Raut during his visit to the project site on Saturday.
MSRDC is executing Ram Jhula project, and its work order was given to Afcoas Infrastructure Private Limited in 2006. However, as the permission was received late for this railway over bridge, there has been delay in execution of Ram Jhula, the officials informed Raut.
