Four members of a family from Maharashtra’s Thane went missing in a Nepal plane crash on Sunday. They were among 22 onboard a 43-year-old plane operated by a private airline, Tara Air, in Nepal that went missing on Sunday and was found at Kowang in Mustang after two hours.
The family members have been identified as 54-year-old Ashok Tripathi, his wife, Vaibhavi Bandekar-Tripathi, 51, son Dhanyasya Tripathi, 22, and daughter Ritika Tripathi, 18. The Tripathi family, residents of the Rustomjee Athena building in Thane, were in Nepal for a holiday. They had changed their flight from Nepal’s Pokhara.
The Nepal Army resumed the search operations on Monday morning after it was halted on Sunday due to snowfall.
Helicopters deployed for the search and rescue operation for crashed Tara Air’s 9 NAET twin-engine aircraft were called off after snowfall in the Mustang district.
Troops had physically located the plane crash site.
A team led by Nepal Police inspector Raj Kumar Tamang reached the crash site by air.
“Some of the bodies of the passengers are beyond recognition. Police gathering the remains,” the official said.
