Nagpur:Relief is reaching Maharashtra residents caught up in the Nepal crisis, with 404 stranded people from the state now back in India, including 106 from Nagpur, while another 37 have crossed into Nepal from the Tibet side and are moving ahead with their return journey.
Talking to Nagpur Today, Maharashtra Response Team Coordinator Visheshkar Suryawanshi said, “404 people from Maharashtra who were stranded in Nepal have returned. Of these, 106 are from Nagpur and have reached India.”

Suryawanshi further said that 37 more people have crossed from Saga in Tibet into Nepal.
Saga is a high-altitude town in southern Tibet and an important stop on the Kailash Mansarovar route. Travellers returning from Saga have to move southwards through Tibet before crossing the Tibet-Nepal border, with the Gyirong-Rasuwagadhi route being a key crossing point. The recent flash floods severely damaged infrastructure and road connectivity in the border region, making movement between Tibet and Nepal difficult.
The 37 people who have now crossed the border are therefore on the Nepal side and can proceed towards India, subject to road and transport conditions.
For further details on Nagpur residents stranded in Nepal, Nagpur Today repeatedly attempted to contact the Nagpur Collector’s Office, but none of the calls were answered despite repeated attempts.
