Negligence by civil contractor claimed him his life, injured labourer

Nagpur News : Negligence claimed life of a civil contractor and injured a construction labourer at an under construction site in Mahavir Nagar in Jaripatka police station area on Monday afternoon.

Jagen Katre, 35, a resident of Angulimal Nagar, died on the spot. Katre had taken the contract of a bungalow owned by brothers- Aashudharam and Jairam Tharane, who owned a bakery in Jaripatka area. Police said that Kare was busy finishing the design of balcony wall when the incident took place. Katre and his labourer fell along with the designed wall. Later, few cement sacks and rods fell over them.

Katre was crushed to death by cement sacks while the labourer escaped with injuries. He was rushed to nearby private hospital and was discharged after preliminary treatment.

Police claimed that Katre haven’t supported the designed wall by iron rods. “Instead, he just tied it with ropes,” said police. He added that a day before Katre was warned by his younger brother about such kind of incident might take place.

Katre’s body was shifted to mortuary of Mayo hospital for post mortem.
