New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the schedule for NEET UG Counselling 2026, with registration for Round 1 set to begin on August 5 through the official counselling portal. The counselling process will facilitate admissions to MBBS, BDS, and other undergraduate medical courses under the All India Quota (AIQ), deemed universities, central universities, and other participating institutions.
To make the admission process more transparent and student-friendly, MCC has introduced several important changes to this year’s counselling guidelines.
Major Changes in NEET UG Counselling 2026
Among the key reforms announced by MCC are:
Gold Rate
Sept 17,2026 - Time 10.30Hrs
- No physical reporting required for seat upgradation. Candidates seeking an upgraded seat during subsequent rounds can complete the process online.
- Online resignation facility. Students wishing to surrender an allotted seat can now do so entirely through the online portal.
- Simplified NRI quota process. Eligible NRI candidates can upload and verify the required documents digitally.
- Greater transparency. Participating colleges have been directed to provide accurate information regarding seat availability, fee structures, and admission policies.
Counselling Schedule
According to the official notification:
- Round 1 Registration: August 5 – August 12
- Subsequent rounds: Round 2, Round 3, and the Stray Vacancy Round will follow as per the published counselling calendar.
Seats Covered Under MCC Counselling
The MCC counselling process includes admissions to:
- 15% All India Quota (AIQ) MBBS and BDS seats
- Deemed Universities
- Central Universities
- Other institutions covered under MCC counselling guidelines.
