Nagpur/Pune: National Green Tribunal has given the orders to arrest and present before it the 12 District Collectors of the state who defied the orders to control Fluorosis disease caused by water containing fluorides. Regarding this it has sent bailable warrants to the Districts’ Superintendents of police.

The district Collectors of the districts to be arrested are-Nanaded, Chandrapur, Beed, Yavatmal, Latur, Washim Parbhani, Hingoli, Jalna, Jalgaon, Nagpur and Bhandara.

In all these districts there are many borewells for water. There is a manual for the distance between two borewells and the depth of it. But still the rules are not being followed and so Adv Asim Sarodey had filed a petition in National Green Tribunal in 2013.

The Collector and concerned department had informed the National Green Tribunal that the orders regarding water containing fluoride were not enforced. Some even did not answer and those who replied, their replies were not satisfactory. Due to this the notice has been served. National Green Tribunal has expressed his dissatisfaction towards the District Collectors.
