National Crop Insurance Scheme for rabi-season, 2015-16 available

Nagpur: Farmers are informed herewith that rabi-crop insurance to the tune of 150%, under National Crop Insurance Scheme for rabi-season, 2015-16 is available for wheat, jowari and green gram among various taluka-wise seasonal crops in Nagpur division, informed a press note issued by divisional joint director (Agriculture).

The seasonal crops face certain risks due to various reasons, like, flood, shortage of rains, landsliding, hailstorm or any other natural calamity. Wheat, Jowari and Green Grams (Jirayeti or non-irrigated) face 60% risk while Wheat (Bagayeti or irrigated) face 80% risk, and so they need insurance cover.

Very small and small land holders get 10% grant in insurance premium in general but the small farmers of Vidarbha get 50% grant in insurance premium.

Interested farmers are advised to send their crop-insurance proposals to their nearby banks concerned within one month of their sowing of crops or latest by December 31, 2015.

They are advised to contact nearest District Central Cooperative Banks, Nationalized Banks, various Sewa Sahakari Sansthas, District Agriculture Officers, SDO (Agriculture), taluka agriculture officers and circle agriculture officers for more details for drawing benefits.
