National chess for the blind from July 28

The National Federation of the Blind Maharashtra, Nagpur (Vidarbha Unit) will be organising and conducting the National Open Chess Championship for the Blind from July 28 to July 31 at Bank of India Credit Co-operative Society Hall.
About 200 blind chess players from different parts of the country are expected to participate in the tournament. The arrangements for boarding and lodging and other mandatory requirements of the participants are being done by our Vidarbha unit.

National Federation of Blind Vidarbha, is one of the active units of NFB Maharashtra. After undertaking various initiatives for the welfare for blind, the Vidarbha unit has come up with a new and innovative idea to organise a National Open Chess Tournament for blind to bring a social change through this game about blind community amongst the society. This will help to promote the game of chess amongst the blind community and will also help to search the hidden chess talent at national level which in long run can be transformed into outstanding chess player.

Chandrakant Popere, DGM, Bank of India, Nagpur Zone, has given his consent to become the chief guest of the inaugural function of the tournament to be held on July 28 at 11.30 am. Managing director Pioneer Group and president of CREDAI Anil Nair will preside over the function.

C Pulla Reddy, regional Manager, Syndicate Bank, Prafulla Mategaonkar, secretary, Rotary Club, Nagpur west, Manoj Itkelwar, vice-president, Maharashtra Chess Association too will remain present at the inaugural ceremony.

The regional manager of New India Insurance Co, RO Nagpur RB Singh will be the chief guest of concluding and prize distribution ceremony to be held on July 31 at 12 noon. President of Rotary Club (Nagpur West) Arvind Bakde will preside over the function.

Dr. Ravi Girhe, secretary, BOI Staff Credit Co-operative Society, Nagpur and National General Secretary, Bruhn Maharashtra Mandal, New Delhi, KK Barat, secretary, Nagpur District Chess Association, Suresh Bobate, general secretary, Bank Of India Staff Union Vidarbha will remain present.
