Nagpur: The General Body Meeting (GBM) of Nagpur Zilla Parishad on Monday witnessed unruly scenes as the members of the Opposition created ruckus after ZP chief Mukta Kokadde adjourned the House without discussing any issues in Question Hour. As a result, the Opposition threw and vandalised the furniture and stationery of the Hall. The rebels also supported the Opposition in the ruckus.

After a gap of six months, the GBM was held. In the very first meeting, the new office-bearers had created similar scenes in the House. During the meeting, former President Rashmi Barve, Prakash Khapare, Dudharam Savvalakhe, Tapeshwar Vaidya, Salil Deshmukh and Ujjwala Bodhare were seen defending their executive members. As soon as the name of Shinde-Fadnavis Government was raised in the House by the office-bearers, the Opposition party leaders Atish Umre and Sanjay Zade launched a strong attack on the Ruling party. Many members raised their issues during the meeting.

Later, the agenda of the meeting was tabled. At the same time, the Opposition party leaders Umre, Zade and others demanded to discuss the issues that were tabled. But the ZP President adjourned the House. Meanwhile, the angry Opposition vandalised the Hall throwing tables, chairs and mike. Rebel Congress member Nana Kambhale also supported the hooligans. The members protested against the issues and requested the administration to conduct an inquiry.

At the onset, former Zilla Parishad President Rashmi Barve alleged that the Guardian Minister had ordered not to give funds to the Zilla Parishad as he belonged to the Congress party. The Opposition strongly objected to the statement and demanded an apology from the past president. Thereafter, a verbal clash ensued between the members of both the parties. Total of Rs 120 crore works of Zilla Parishad have been stalled due to shortage of funds, said Barve. She alleged that Guardian Minister Devendra Fadnavis had ordered to withhold funds from the Zilla Parishad.

The Opposition leader Atish Umre objected to this statement. The government has lifted the moratorium, said Umre in the House. He demanded to show the order issued by the Guardian Minister for upholding the funds. Sanjay Zade also supported Umre. Meanwhile, Subhash Gujarkar condemned Barve’s statement and demanded an apology from her. “Development works in rural areas have stopped due to the moratorium. I have written to the government to lift the moratorium,” added Barve.
