Nagpur: In a shocking case of revenge-fuelled violence, a 20-year-old youth allegedly murdered his mother’s second husband with the help of an accomplice in the Pardi area of Nagpur. The incident occurred around 7:50 pm on November 6, when the victim was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon.
According to police reports, the complainant Sunita Doma Kumbhare (42), a resident of Gangabag Dargah, Pardi, had earlier married Devendra Krishnarao Kumbhare (47), a resident of Naik Talav, Bangladesh area, Nagpur, in 1997. The couple had two sons, Dhiraj (21) and Kunal (20). However, due to frequent domestic disputes, Sunita separated from her husband while the two sons continued living with their father.
In 2011, Sunita married Doma Krishnarao Kumbhare (45), a resident of Gangabag Dargah, Pardi, and had two children with him as well.
As per the complaint, Sunita’s elder son from her first marriage, Kunal Devendra Kumbhare, had been holding a grudge against his mother’s second husband, Doma Kumbhare, for years. He often confronted Doma, accusing him of “ruining their lives” by marrying his mother and “making them orphans.” Kunal allegedly issued repeated death threats to Doma over this issue.
On the evening of November 6, 2025, Kunal, along with his friend Amit Nohar Bharti (20), a resident of Plot No. 61, Navin Nagar, Pardi, confronted Doma Kumbhare near a vacant ground at Talmalewadi under Pardi police station limits. Following a heated argument, the duo attacked Doma with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting multiple grievous injuries.
The severely injured Doma was rushed to Bhavani Hospital, Pardi, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
Based on the complaint lodged by Sunita Kumbhare, Pardi Police registered an offence under Sections 103(1), 126(2), 296, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
Acting promptly, police arrested both accused, Kunal Devendra Kumbhare and Amit Nohar Bharti, within hours of the crime. Further investigation is underway under the supervision of PSI Prasad Shinde of Pardi Police Station.
