Nagpur: Youth Arrested for Selling ₹650 Match Tickets at ₹2,500

Nagpur: With tickets for the India–New Zealand T20 match at the VCA Stadium, Jamtha, selling out online within an hour, black marketing reared its head once again. Crime Branch officials arrested a युवक on Sunday night for illegally selling match tickets at inflated prices near the stadium.

According to police, tickets priced at ₹650 were being sold for as much as ₹2,500, while higher-priced tickets were fetching nearly five times their face value in the black market. Acting on a tip-off received around 10 pm, the Crime Branch team conducted a raid near Hotel Heritage, close to the VCA Stadium in Civil Lines.

The accused was identified as Mohammad Adib Sheikh Ijaz, a resident of Taj Nagar, Tekanaka. Police recovered two ₹650 tickets from his possession, which he was attempting to sell at ₹2,500 each. A mobile phone and other materials worth approximately ₹23,000 were also seized.

A case has been registered against the accused at Sadar Police Station. Police officials said ticket black marketing is a recurring issue during high-profile matches, and surveillance has been intensified to curb such activities.
