Nagpur: The festive spirit of Dhanteras brought a remarkable economic surge in Nagpur this year, with the city recording an estimated trade turnover of over ₹1,000 crore in a single day. From gold and silver to automobiles, electronics, clothing, and utensils — every market sector reported brisk sales, fueled by attractive festive offers and the positive impact of GST 2.0 reforms.
From the early hours of Dhanteras morning, markets across the “Orange City” buzzed with shoppers. Crowds thronged jewellery stores, electronics showrooms, automobile dealerships, and garment outlets. Many opted to buy new vehicles, while others invested in household appliances such as refrigerators, LED TVs, and washing machines.
Jewellery stores witnessed the most dazzling business, as gold, silver, platinum, and diamond ornaments sold in large quantities. The bullion market alone recorded sales of nearly ₹150 crore. Electronic stores also reported record-breaking sales of TVs, refrigerators, mixers, microwaves, and air conditioners thanks to deep discounts.
The automobile sector had a strong outing as well, with around 6,000 two-wheelers and over 1,200 four-wheelers sold during the day. Meanwhile, utensil shops saw heavy footfall, with customers purchasing pooja thalis, dinner sets, and festive gift items.
Overall, Dhanteras 2025 brought renewed economic energy to Nagpur, setting a new benchmark for festive trade. The city truly witnessed a glittering celebration of wealth and prosperity this year.
