Nagpur: Residents of Ward No. 35 are facing serious inconvenience due to sewage accumulating on a vacant plot, which has virtually turned into a stagnant pond, creating unhygienic conditions and spreading a foul stench throughout the neighbourhood.
The stagnant wastewater has become a persistent source of nuisance for residents, who are forced to endure the foul smell every day. The unhygienic surroundings have also raised concerns over the possible spread of diseases and the health risks posed to people living in the vicinity.
According to local residents, repeated concerns over the problem have failed to bring any effective solution. They alleged that when they approached the elected representatives seeking intervention, they were reportedly told, “We are not engineers.”
The response has triggered resentment among residents, who questioned whether addressing basic civic problems was not the responsibility of elected representatives. They pointed out that citizens should not be left to suffer because of administrative or technical difficulties.
Residents have now urged the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to intervene immediately, repair the faulty sewage pipeline and ensure the complete drainage of accumulated wastewater.
They warned that continued neglect could further worsen the unhygienic conditions and pose a serious threat to public health. The civic administration has been urged to take prompt corrective measures instead of allowing the problem to persist.
